Chesapeake
Bay Crabmeat - Pasteurized Item #A-44 1 lb. Jumbo Lump - $42.00 Pasteurized crabmeat is essentially fresh crabmeat that has been heated to a high temperature to kill the bacteria that causes spoilage. Thus the shelf life for this crabmeat when stored in the refrigerator is 3-4 months. By comparison, fresh crabmeat lasts 2-3 days in the refrigerator! The taste is very true to fresh and most people can't tell the difference. Pasteurized crabmeat is the only Maryland Crabmeat available during the winter months. Fresh Maryland crabmeat is usually available from June through late October. This premium crabmeat can be used in any of the recipes contained in our cookbooks that call for crabmeat. Crabmeat from the Chesapeake Bay is considered to be the finest in the world and has a taste like no other. *If you want to freeze the crabmeat for later use it must be made into crabcakes, crab imperial etc. before freezing.
